View of the Slapy lake and its resorts above Nová Rabyně

Most probably the best known and most beautiful view of the Slapy lake. From this very spot, you can see the lake practically from the dam as far as the Hrdlička (Turtledove) holiday resort. Right before you, the Ždáň holiday resort lies open; to your left is Měřín; to your right Skalice and Nová Rabyně. The Buš and Slapy villages can be seen on the horizon. Right from here, you have perhaps the best view of the golf course in Slapy. The lookout is situated right off the road Neveklov - Nová Rabyně; there is also a good spot to park your car. In summer, there is a refreshment kiosk with a smallish tourist information centre. The lookout was created in connection with the construction of the adjoining road during the years 1930 to 1932.The road was to be an access road to the planned dam. Originally, the dam was to be situated elsewhere – in the location of today's Nová Rabyně resort. However, the project was never carried out in that location due to unsuitable subsoil and the economic crisis. The car park where you can leave your car is situated in the very spot of one of small stone pits where construction material for the construction of the road used to be extracted. Just a few metres south from this point, there is another view (GPS: 49°47'58.733"N, 14°26'10.505"E). There used to be a concrete bench and a guard rail here, but due to dozens of years without maintenance and with a more attractive counterpart right off the road, this point has almost passed into oblivion.

Route and transport to the site

Walking (approx. 9 km):

Slapy - Slapy dam - Nová Rabyně. From Nová Rabyně down the road. After some 2 kilometres, you will get to the view. It is quite accessible on foot, but the almost the whole route leads on a busy asphalt road. It is not the greatest destination to do a walking trip then.

Cycling (approx. 9 km):

By car (approx. 10 km):
